Project Engineer

Primary Purpose of Position:

Apply basic blue print reading, basic knowledge of Storefront and Curtainwall, basic knowledge of composite and single skin paneling systems to assist Lead Project Engineers with generating quality shop drawings for submittal.

Essential Functions:

  1. Work in a team format and approach every aspect of your scope wholistically through its progressive design/submittal life cycle till fabrication.
    1. Roles and Scopes will change per need of Project and Company
    2. Become proficient through training in all scope related to the building enclosure industry.

          3. Window wall
        2. Storefront
        3. Doors and Entrances

          1. ACM (Aluminum Composite Material)
          2. Fiber Cement
          3. Single Skins
        5. Frameless glass
        6. Shower doors
  2. Ensure project/scope maintains the guidelines of the Lead Project Engineer and SOP to accommodate TEAM concept.
    1. 001 – Cover
    2. 100 – Floorplans
    3. 200 – Building Elevations
    4. 300 – Elevations
    5. 400 – Plan Details 
    6. 500 – Section Details 
    7. 600 – Anchor Details
  3. Identify A-typical conditions within project/scope, coordinate with team for proper transition and alignment.
    1. Research solutions with team.
    2. Assist team during the fabrication of all prototypes used to address all A-typical conditions of project.
  4. Attend all Project Progress meetings set by Lead Project Engineer with team.

  5. Ensure all XREFs are inserted in proper locations for correct continuity.
  6. Ensure all drawings / XREFs / blocks are correctly configured with SOP entities, i.e. layers, colors, dimensions, etc.
  7. Ensure all PartnerPak parts and MTOs are developed and maintained regularly to coincide with Shop Drawings throughout the project’s life cycle during the design/submittal/MTO phase up to the fabrication phase. (This will ensure a more seamless integration of the project through both the ordering of materials and the fabrication processes)
  8. Ensure the proper use of the Composite Panel Builder software for all Panel scopes throughout the life cycle of the project from design/submittal/MTO phase up to the fabrication phase. (This will ensure a seamless integration of the project through both the ordering of materials and the fabrication process)  
  9. Learn to scan and process scans for project(s) that may arise during the design phase.
  10. Promptly generate and send all engineering/design related RFIs to Lead Project Engineer for submittal to PM.
  11. Continue help develop new best practices within a team format.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Attends periodic staff meetings and training sessions;
  • Complies with dress code, proper paperwork procedures, prompt follow-up communications and departmental policies.

Requirements Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD required
  • The ability to constantly multi-task and handle competing priorities between Middlesex business needs, organizational issues, and maintain sound customer relations while providing outstanding customer service necessary.
  • A strong sense of urgency and initiative with a can-do attitude a must 
  • Be team a player with the ability to be diplomatic, take direction, give direction, work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to shift work priorities and adapt to an ever-changing environment
  • Accommodate operational and business needs as needed.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to utilizing new software(s) and procedures as MGC continue to grow and evolve.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift at least twenty-five (25) pounds;
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time;
  • Must be able to use computer and phone on a daily basis.
